4 Things I Tell My Patients During Cancer Treatment
I wanted to find a way to create a deeper connection with my followers and provide more insights into the content I share on other platforms. I'm excited to give you all a closer, more personal look into my world—sharing insights from my life, my research, and work.
For 30+ years, I’ve walked alongside thousands of people facing cancer. Each case has deepened my understanding of the human body and its capacity to adapt and heal.
Many people think cancer is a random mishap—something causes our cells to turn against us one day. But I’ve come to learn that cancer isn’t a mistake or a group of bad cells. It’s a biological response to inputs that are incompatible with our biology. I see it less as something to be aggressively eliminated, and more as a consequence of chronic stress, unresolved injury, metabolic disruption, and prolonged exposure to harmful environments.
The conventional model focuses heavily on killing the tumor. But true recovery is about restoring function. When we stop fighting the body and start working with it, healing becomes possible in ways medicine usually overlooks.
1. Cancer cells CAN revert to healthy cells. They are not inherently different from healthy cells; they are over using universal systems.
Cancer is not a parasite or an invading organism, it’s your own cells. Cancer usually arises when tissue becomes stressed for a really long time—by toxins, hormone imbalances, lack of oxygen or nutrients, physical injury, etc. Cancer is the first stage in the tissue regeneration process, but the cells lack the necessary inputs to fully repair the damage and differentiate.
Cancer cells come from your own body. They’re using the same machinery, just in a distorted, survival-based way. In fact, the fundamental difference between a cancer cell & healthy cell is the metabolic pathway they use (not genetic mutations):
Healthy cells generate energy through cellular respiration, an efficient multistep process consisting of 1) glycolysis, 2) the Krebs cycle, and 3) oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). This complete pathway allows a single sugar molecule to produce up to 36 ATP, the energy currency of the cell.
Cancer cells stop at the first step, glycolysis, never completing the full energy cycle. This presents a major problem. Glycolysis yields only 2 to 5 ATP per sugar molecule, a fraction of what healthy cells produce.
Cancer cells do not use the OXPHOS, because conditions do not allow them to.
However, this shift in metabolism is reversible. In many cases, cancer cells can be nudged back toward normal function by restoring healthy mitochondrial activity, oxygen usage, nutrients, hormonal balance, and a safe, supportive environment. When the cell has what it needs, it may return to its original programming—differentiating, repairing, and rejoining the cooperative function of healthy tissue.
2. You can influence your genes and their expression.
Only about 5–10% of cancers are driven by inherited genetic mutations. That means for the vast majority of people, cancer isn’t inevitable—it’s shaped by the environment their DNA is placed in. Even if you carry a genetic predisposition, that gene still needs to be activated, and whether or not it gets turned on depends on the signals your body is receiving.
Epigenetics is the process by which your environment and behaviors influence how your genes function—essentially acting as on/off switches that control which genes get expressed and which remain dormant, without changing the DNA sequence itself. Your lifestyle, nutrition, stress levels, toxic exposures, and even your emotional state can influence which genes are expressed and which remain silent.
So, your DNA is not your destiny. You have more influence over that process than you’ve been led to believe.
3. No treatment or supplement will overcome stress. Your mindset will always be the foundation of your health.
No supplement, medication, or diet plan can truly heal the body if it's constantly stuck in a state of stress. Healing is a comprehensive process—it’s physical and deeply emotional and neurological. When we’re under chronic stress, our bodies shift into survival mode. Blood flow moves away from digestion, repair, and immune function and instead gets diverted to systems that help us fight or flee. Our hormones shift. Our breathing changes. Even our ability to absorb nutrients is altered.
In this state, even the most well-designed treatment can only go so far, because the body doesn’t feel safe enough to heal. Safety is what tells your cells it’s okay to return to normal function. It’s okay to turn on the repair mechanisms that are often locked behind layers of unprocessed fear, pressure, or emotional overwhelm.
Our mindset is so important because it also shapes our biology.
4. The body is not designed to hurt itself. You are perfectly made.
There is no built-in mechanism by which the body tries to hurt itself. It didn’t evolve to self-destruct. Every process it carries out, even the ones we label as “disease,” is purposeful. It’s doing the best it can, with what it has, in the environment it’s in.
Cancer, like any health condition or symptom, isn’t proof that the body is broken or attacking itself. It’s a sign that how we’re living, eating, thinking, or relating to the world isn’t aligned with our biology. It doesn’t make mistakes.
And health is not something we have to force—it’s our default state. When the signals of stress, depletion, or conflict go unanswered long enough, the body shifts into survival mode. That shift might look like inflammation, fatigue, and sometimes, it looks like cancer. But it’s not the body turning against us. It’s the body trying to protect us by adapting to meet the demands we place on it.
To truly heal, we have to stop being at war with our body. You are a living, intelligent system. With the right inputs, the body knows exactly how to return to balance. You are perfectly made.
